Welcome to West Coast Newcomers Network

Covering the whole of the coast.

Based in Greymouth, Reefton, Westport, Hokitika and Westland.

Are you new to the West Coast area...

...with no network of relatives and friends to support you?
Do you want to meet new friends?
Do you need some help settling in?
Are you interested in fun activities?
If so, why not become a part of it...

As a new immigrant, or as a newcomer from another part of New Zealand, you are welcome to join any of our Newcomers Networks. We would like you to feel at home on the West Coast and to settle well into your new environment.

The West Coast Newcomers Networks can offer you friendship and support through various activities. You may also get support with settlement issues. You are welcome, regardless of your age, your nationality or the language you speak.

Becoming part of this is just a phone call or email away....

Who Are We?

Newcomers Networks are non-profit organisations run mainly by unpaid volunteers. It has been set up under New Coasters, the support network for all people new to the West Coast.  Many of us have at some point been new to the West Coast region so understand the difficulties faced when moving here.

We are here to support anyone new to the West Coast; you do not have to be from overseas, if you are new to the region from other parts of New Zealand, Newcomers Network is for you.   If you are an immigrant from an English speaking country Newcomers Network is for you. If you are from a non-English speaking country and new to the coast, Newcomers Network is for you.

We are not...

Tied to any church, mosque, temple, synagogue or any other religious group (but we welcome all regardless of beliefs.)
We are not tied to any political organisation and welcome all regardless of political views. We are not tied to any business or commercial organisation (although as a non-profit organisation run by volunteers we do accept donations or sponsorship).

This project is supported by Family and Community Services.

Settling In is administered by Family and Community Services (FACS), a service of the Ministry of Social Development,
